Human Access Project will be having a grand opening party in partnership with Portland Parks and Recreation on June 29th from 2-7pm. This will be celebrating the new $900,000 dock (of which Human Access Project contributed $300,000 of the cost) and the removal of 150 tons of concrete and rubble from the beach by 250 volunteers between 2021-2023.
The event will have the following schedule:
– 2-3:30pm there will be free safety clinic conducted by Black Swimming Initiative to teach basic swimming safety skills. This will be very basic open instruction on a walk up basis.
-3:30-4pm there will be an official ribbon cutting 4-7pm there will be live music.
There will also be free kayak rentals from mosquito fleet, food sold by food vendors and community booths including a Metro who will be giving away lifejackets.
